Glossary: Double Opt-In
An opt-in is the consent of a user to being contacted by an advertising company. The double opt-in is a second confirmation, usually in the form of an email, requesting confirmation of consent. A registration with the “Double-Opt-in” will only take effect when it is confirmed. This procedure is used to generate addresses in email marketing. One also needs this confirmation of an e-mail address to be sure that the e-mail reaches the right person.
