Glossary: Geo-Targeting

In geo-targeting, advertising materials or content is sent to the user on basis of location information which i.e. are taken from IP addresses or login data. In doing so, users can get advertisement which is independent from the website operator’s location and matches the user’s location. In contrast to location based marketing, a user’s exact location is not determined but only the user’s environment and offers close to his/her rough location.
