Glossary: Opt-In

An opt-in, in permission marketing, is the consent of a person. When a user registers, e.g. for a newsletter, he proactively ticks a checkbox and therefore agrees to the use of his data in the context of the linked data use declaration. Certain regulations need to be observed in order to make the consent legally binding.
